KATIE - DOG TRAINER
Hi! I'm Katie, and I've been working professionally with dogs for nearly 15 years now. Similar to most dog trainers, my story started with two particular dogs; a Labrador called Lucy, and a Cocker called Jack.
I adopted Lucy in 2014 and started up a dog walking business because I wanted a job where she could come to work with me. Then came Jack, my little Cocker Spaniel, who introduced me to dog sports. Over the years I've dabbled in agility, canicross, hoopers, working trials and flyball. These days I mainly do flyball and agility with my little Staffie mix, Mash.
Dogs have basically taken over my life ever since!
I'm fascinated by canine behaviour, training and the science behind why dogs do what they do. If I'm not actually out with dogs, there's a good chance I'm reading about them, studying, listening to a podcast or watching training videos (that I've probably already watched before). I'm currently studying Level 5 Applied Canine Behaviour alongside ongoing CPD and professional education, and I don't really see the learning ever stopping.
But for all the studying and dog training, my favourite thing is still pretty simple. Give me my dogs, a pair of boots and a few hours somewhere in the woods, hills or mountains and I'm happy.

Our philosophy
More freedom. More adventure. A bigger life together
My philosophy stems back to one sole belief; trained dogs live bigger lives. And dogs deserve big lives!
Dogs deserve freedom and adventure. For me, that's a long walk through the woods or up in the hills. It's swimming in lakes, exploring new places, going away for the weekend and then being able to settle under the table while everyone stops at the pub afterwards. Its being able to experience life alongside their family, and not being left behind.
More 'im so glad we bought the dog'
less 'the dog would have loved this'
Before we ask dogs to live successfully in our world, we believe it's our responsibility to understand theirs. That means recognising what dogs need - movement, exploration, play, social connection, choice and opportunities to express natural behaviour.
But it also means looking deeper at the dog in front of us. A spaniel was bred to hunt. A terrier or sighthound may have an incredible desire to chase. Different breeds, genetics, personalities and life experiences create very different dogs.
Rather than constantly fighting against those instincts, we want to understand them and find appropriate ways for dogs to express them. We want dogs who are confident, fulfilled, fit, resilient and adventurous. Dogs who get to be dogs, safely!
Training creates freedom.
Ready for a bigger life, together?
Whether you're looking for more freedom, better understanding or simply more adventures with your dog, we'd love to hear from you.
